Poster ideas include:
- A successful department-wide project

- An enlightening educational effort
Networking opportunities, CEUs, leadership development, and sessions on artificial intelligence (AI)—these are just a few of the favorite things that Ticia Selmon, RHIA, CCS, CDIP, is excited about for AHIMA25.
“You name it, you want it, you’ve got to come to Minneapolis AHIMA25 to get it,” says Selmon, past president of the Minnesota component association of AHIMA.
Selmon and other health information (HI) professionals are gearing up to attend AHIMA25 from Oct. 12-14 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis. It’s the must-attend event where HI professionals will gain real-world knowledge, sharpen their skills, and make career-changing connections.
At AHIMA25, HI professionals will have the opportunity to:
- Hear the latest from top HI experts
- Build their skills with hands-on sessions to help advance their career
- Connect with peers, leaders, and employers
- Earn valuable CEUs and Nursing Contact Hours
“Our work is essential, and that shared identity happens here,” says AHIMA President/Chair Maria Caban Alizondo, PhD, MOL, RHIT, FAHIMA, who will welcome conference-goers at the Opening General Session on Oct. 13.
Early Bird Rates Available Until July 18
HI professionals can register early for the conference and save $100. AHIMA25 will be a hybrid event with some sessions streamed live from the convention center and others made available on-demand after the conference ends. Participants can continue earning CEUs after the in-person conference is over.
AHIMA25 offers attendees more than 40 educational sessions via refreshed tracks and pre-conference workshops that cover what matters most in HI today. Attendees can earn CEUs and Nursing Contact Hours along the way, too.
Conference sessions will focus on everything from navigating privacy, security, and ethical risks in healthcare AI to the impact of social determinants of health on the revenue cycle to upskilling coders to perform facility and professional coding.
The seven learning tracks are:
- Policy & Government
- Privacy & Security
- Coding
- Career Advancement
- Documentation & Data Integrity
- Operational Outcomes
- Emerging Trends
“AHIMA25 promises to be a transformative experience to explore career opportunities, network with peers, enhance your skills, dance, and have fun,” says Mona Calhoun, PhD, MS, MEd, RHIA, FAHIMA, AHIMA past president/chair. “It’s coming together with colleagues that are like family, and we’re talking and discussing and just learning from each other.”
The pre-conference workshops are educational opportunities that will provide a deep dive into key topics and offer valuable insights from industry experts. Each workshop will be packed with practical strategies that attendees can bring back to work or school. For example, the Assembly on Education (AOE) Workshop on Oct. 11 is a backstage pass to connect with fellow educators and learn what’s working in classrooms today.
Other workshop topics include best practices in documentation and coding, outpatient coding challenges and solutions, and empowering HI professionals for the digital age.
“The knowledge, exhibit hall—there’s just one thing after another that just surprises you,” says Sandra Rockson, RHIA, CCMP, CSM, a healthcare management consultant. “And having your resume read, those headshots for your LinkedIn profile—just getting you really prepared.”
Nationally Acclaimed Keynote Speakers Will Inspire Attendees
During the conference, best-selling author Damon West will share his transformative "Be A Coffee Bean" message, a call to create change from within, no matter what the circumstances, drawn from his powerful personal story.
Olympic gold medalist and renowned motivational speaker DeeDee Trotter will deliver a high-energy message about turning pressure into purpose and unlocking your inner strength through her presentation, "I Can. I Must. I Will!"
“AHIMA25 gives us a real sense of where the profession is heading. It’s a chance to see what’s working at other organizations, reconnect with colleagues, and come back with ideas I can apply right away,” says Lydia Danton, MSHIM, RHIA, CHDA, director of the health information management program at Collin College in Texas. “I can’t walk five feet without seeing someone I know from a previous conference. Networking, career opportunities—I look forward to it every year.”
