On September 11, AHIMA will host its first Virtual Revenue Cycle Summit to bring together experts in coding, clinical documentation, compliance, revenue cycle operations, and healthcare technology to examine how revenue cycle teams can address problems before they become denials. Communication is not separate from revenue cycle strategy; it is how teams translate what they learn into better performance.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation offer opportunities to reduce manual work, improve consistency, and accelerate revenue cycle processes. Prior authorization is an important area of focus because delays and administrative demands affect financial performance, staff workload, and patient access to care.
Summit attendees will learn how AI is being applied to prior authorization through automation, predictive analytics, clinical documentation review, and workflow optimization. Automation can also support complex anesthesia billing activities, including crosswalks, modifier logic, and time-unit calculations.
