While 2020 has included plenty of challenges, it has also brought new opportunities. I’m proud of our dedicated AHIMA enterprise staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring health information professionals resources that make their lives a little easier. Here are five I think you will want to know about:
1. A new AHIMA.org
The redesigned AHIMA.org website makes it simpler than ever to navigate the complexities of health information. And it was built with health information professionals in mind—more than 100 AHIMA members contributed their perspective on the new site through focus groups and other avenues.
2. Telehealth resources
Telehealth use exploded in 2020 and there are a number of resources available on this topic. The Journal of AHIMA has published several articles about telehealth and AHIMA has partnered with Optum360 to host a telehealth webinar on Oct. 21.
3. MediRegs Weekly Regulatory Highlights
AHIMA members now have access to Wolters Kluwer’s MediRegs Weekly Regulatory Highlights, a custom solution within the MediRegs Compliance Suite portfolio that delivers expert-curated content on federal regulatory changes to health information management professionals.
4. Foundation Grants
The AHIMA Foundation has been awarding grants from the HIRO Fund, helping members who were affected by the pandemic. Learn more or make a donation at the AHIMA Foundation’s website.
5. Leadership training and continuing education
While more than 2 million people receive promotions each year, the journey from successful employee to successful manager is a difficult one. Through AHIMA’s collaboration with The Ken Blanchard Companies, members can advance their career and complete leadership training from their home. In addition, AHIMA significantly lowered the cost of its webinars in the past year, making continuing education more accessible than ever.Leave a comment
