AHIMA’s New Website: Built with You in Mind

In an effort to provide an improved experience for busy health information professionals, AHIMA recently launched a redesigned and reimagined AHIMA.org. As advocates and educators of professionals who are navigating an ever-changing digital environment, AHIMA is leaning into its role as the professional home for leaders in healthcare, technology, and business.

“The new AHIMA.org empowers the association to effectively provide health information professionals and their partners with the support and insights needed so they can continue leading the evolution of healthcare,” says AHIMA CEO Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE.

AHIMA’s web team leaders engaged with more than 100 AHIMA members through a mix of focus groups, usability testing and one-on-one interviews. Their contributions allowed AHIMA to build a website that provides the health information community with opportunities for more and richer content, increased engagement, and more sharing.

One of those members, Ashley Bailey, MSHCM, RHIA, said she was pleased with the final result.

“It can be challenging to keep up with the various aspects of healthcare, especially given its complexity,” she said. “AHIMA’s dynamic new website makes navigating these complexities easier through the tools, resources, and opportunities offered. They will help professionals like me to remain relevant and thriving in the health information field.”

Harris echoed Bailey’s comments, saying the new website will continue to serve as a hub of content and resources for AHIMA-certified professionals, the health information professional community, and the broader healthcare community. She also says the new site will enhance the ability to find, use and share critical resources.

“The launch of the new AHIMA website represents the start of a process, not the end of one,” Harris says. “We will continue to work with advisors, members and other business leaders to deliver more value by way of continued refinements and enhancements to the AHIMA enterprise web presence.”

Bailey says in addition to helping AHIMA improve their web presence, serving in a focus group has had a positive impact on her career.

“Being an AHIMA focus group member allowed me the opportunity to engage with fellow subject matter experts and gain insight into professional areas that I wouldn’t ordinarily explore,” Bailey says. “It’s helped to strengthen my foundation both personally and professionally by offering connections to a diverse group of people, some who have become friends.”
