AHIMA CEO Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE, has been chosen as one of Health Data Management’s “30 Leading HIT Experts to Watch in 2019,” the publication reported.
Harris began her tenure as CEO at AHIMA one year ago, and has already been recognized for her plans to strengthen membership and foster relationships internally and externally. “She is known for her ability to bring organizational change” and “… maintains an increased focus on continuing education and exploration of new roles in health information management,” Health Data Management notes.
Prior to joining AHIMA, Harris served as CEO of the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund. Prior to her work at LWVUS, Harris held senior executive positions at the American Nurses Association, including as chief operating officer, was executive director of the Center for American Nurses, and was executive director of the Maryland-based Sister to Sister Foundation—a national organization supporting women’s health issues and heart disease education. Harris has also previously served as senior vice president and executive director at the American Heart Association.
