Telemedicine, defined by one study as video consultations with physicians, is poised to experience significant growth between now and 2018, according to a Parks Associates report. But Ease of use issues with telemedicine technologies will continue to be barriers to adoption for both patients and healthcare professionals, researchers warn.
To better understand the issues associated with information governance and how it is being implemented in healthcare, AHIMA has developed case studies based on the experiences of four healthcare organizations with active information governance programs. The aim of these case studies is to begin to answer questions on the structure and process of information governance initiatives, as well as identify some overarching goals of information governance in healthcare organizations.
Wednesday’s ICD-10-CM/PCS and Computer-Assisted Coding Summit keynote speaker,Rose Dunn, MBA, RHIA, CPA, FACHE, took a series of audience polls at the beginning of her presentation. When she asked how many audience members thought the new ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation date would be after the expected October 2015 date, a majority of the audience raised their hands. Next, Dunn asked how many people wanted to sue the federal government, a question which drew several raised hands but more laughter.
