Audio: HIM Education for the Year 2025
Hear HIM educator Rebecca Reynolds, Ed.D, RHIA, discuss how education needs to adapt for 21st century HIM.
Reynolds is the associate professor and program director of the health informatics and health information management graduate program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, based in Memphis, Tenn.
In addition to contributing to AHIMA’s Vision 2016 report, which evaluated the needs of progressive HIM education, she also helped the University of Tennesse’s HIM bachelor’s degree program transition into an entry-level master’s program in 2010.
The move was made, she said, to better prepare HIM students for the advanced skills they need to land present and future HIM jobs.
